The chillum, also known as a coupling or downstem, forms the connection between the bowl and the bong. It channels the airflow directly into the water and is crucial for the technical function of the entire pipe. Couplings are made from clear glass, sturdy metal or flexible silicone depending on the model. In addition to classic variants there are also diffuser chillums, where small slits or holes divide the airflow into fine partial streams. This increases the contact surface in the water, resulting in even and efficient cooling.
In addition, Schall & Rauch offers a wide selection of joint adapters made from glass or aluminium. They are placed between the coupling and the bowl and allow switching between different joint sizes. For example, an 18.8 connection can easily be converted into a 14.5 setup or vice versa. Adapters for male joints as well as female joints are available, making almost any combination possible.
